A LITTLE ABOUT US
Welcome to the new and improved On The Scene Festival.
We are an online hub dedicated to showcasing and celebrating short films. Every month, we'll have a specially selected theme for a programme of three curated shorts we think you'll love.
'On The Scene' originally started in 2020, during the covid pandemic as a way to retain a film community, share short films we were spending our time watching and simply cure some of the boredom.
We always knew we would bring this project back, and now feels like the right time. The film industry has changed a lot in the last 6 years and watching films from the comfort of your own home or the convenience of 'on the move' has become more popular than ever.
"We think short films deserve to live beyond their festival run and that’s why our festival is a little different."
As much as we love film festivals, we also understand that not everybody has the access to one locally, not everybody has the time to attend them and not everybody is in the loop of when and where they're happening.
'On The Scene Festival' is a space for everyone.
The odds are you've seen a feature film but we want everyone to also have the space and opportunity to see the incredible short films being created all over the world.
We want you to feel welcome and at home here. This project is for you, so engage with us, the filmmakers and your friends to make short films a part of the conversation.
MEET THE TEAM
FRANCESCA
"You'll always find me drawn to a 'Coming of Age' short. Give me a snippet into someone's life, navigating their next steps and growing in their unique environment and I'm sold.
I' have curated and programmed for multiple festivals including for the BFI with a strong perspective on highlighting Northern and underepresented voices.
With On The Scene, I want to create a space where short films can have a moment to shine, as a thing in itself, a story that stands on its own in such a small amount of time."

"On the Scene is more than just a project for me, it's a way to bring fresh filmmakers into the spotlight, create a platfrom for new voices, and build the kind of community I've always wanted to be a part of.
Having worked across multiple creative industries, I've always been drawn to the power of storytelling. Cinematography has been my fascination in the way visuals can tell stories beyond words.
Now feels like the right time to create something personal, where we can celebrate the art of film together. I'm excited to be on this journey with you all and to welcome you to the On the Scene community"
